Vasco da Gama was born in Sines, Portugal between 1460 and 1469.

     He is one of the most famous explorers from      the Discovery Ages, he was the first                    European to reach India by sea.

Vasco de Gama discovered the route from Europe to the Indies by sea bordering Africa.

             He was named in 1524 as the Governor of India, under the title of viceroy.
