Magellan and Elcano

ELCANO:
-Place and date of birth: Guetaria, 1476

- Important voyages:

MAGUELLAN EXPEDITION

Expedition to the Philippines, eastern coast of Brazil and into Puerto San Julián in Argentina.
During this six-month listless journey after Magellan died, and before reaching the Moluccas on 6 November
reached Sanlúcar de Barrameda on 6 September 1522as

LOAÍSA EXPEDITION:

In 1525, Elcano went back to sea, and became a member of the Loaísa Expedition  to claim the East Indies for
King Charles I of Spain

- Places discovered:
He discovered a passage known as the Strait of Magellan located in the southern tip of South America.

MAGELLAN:

-Place and date of birth: Sabrosa (Portugal), 1480

- Important voyages:
Magellan's expedition of 1519–1522 became the first expedition to sail from the Atlantic Ocean into the Pacific Ocean (then named "peaceful sea" by Magellan; the passage being made via the Strait of Magellan), and the first to cross the Pacific. His expedition completed the first circumnavigation of the Earth. Magellan did not complete the entire voyage, as he was killed during the Battle of Mactan in the Philippines.

- Places discovered:
He discovered apassage known as the Strait of Magellan

-Interesting facts:
The Magellanic Penguin was named for him.
